“… (he) was convinced that everyone has their own snowflake; individual existences might look identical from afar, but to understand one’s own eternally mysterious uniqueness one had to plot the mysteries of his or her own snowflake.”
Orhan Pamuk, Snow
Log line:
One in many. Many in one.
Synopsis:
Images of snowflakes shot against the darkness of the sky became material for my work, the process of making one thing out of another thing by shifting not just its function but also the movement and directions while still experiencing the constant relationship to the whole. The visuals in Passing Through explore an intense relationship of one and many but at the same time they serve as a metaphor for mysteries of our own destinies and being.
Director’s Statement:
PASSING THROUGH is organized around movements of snowflakes that are spreading into different directions. The film invites us to notice and enjoy changes of the one in the context of evershifting relationships. The changes we see are experienced as sensations of their own.
PASSING THROUGH is the second film of MY INNER LIFE TRILOGY. The first film is DISPLACEMENT. The third film MONTAGE is in development. All three deal with a question of time and space when it comes to a matter of feelings. Feelings are here understood as a subjective representation of emotions, private to the individual experiencing them.
