Synopsis:
If we found ourselves in Plato’s famous cave today, would that trigger us to question ourselves and our world? Or would we neglect the possibility for any answers Plato’s cave could give us, and instead assign our own values to the caves?
The ‘Allegory Of The Cave’ is a theory put forward by Plato, concerning human perception. In the allegory, Plato likens people untutored in the ‘Theory of Forms’ to prisoners chained in a cave, unable to turn their heads. Behind them burns a fire, and all they can see is the wall of the cave, with shadows on it. So, the prisoners believe that the shadows are ‘real”, as they are ignorant about the true nature of reality.
